1. Look at Micron’s own openings

Micron lists open technician, engineer and project lead roles in New York on its careers site. Check it first so you know which titles and degrees they ask for.

2. Train locally for technician roles
  • Onondaga Community College (OCC) runs a Semiconductor Technician program. The listing we found showed a February 18 to April 24, 2026 session, not covered by federal financial aid, with cost listed as to be determined. Ask OCC about the next session.
  • OCC also offers a two-year degree and a one-year certificate in electromechanical technology.
3. Construction and trades

The build phase needs electricians, ironworkers, operators and more. CenterState CEO’s Pathways to Apprenticeship is an 11-week program that prepares Syracuse residents for construction apprenticeships. It had 65 graduates as of 2023.

4. Students

Micron’s paid summer internships through OCC were posted for Boise and Manassas, Virginia, with a January 26, 2026 deadline. The notice did not mention Clay.

5. A state apprenticeship in Albany

NY Creates and Micron welcomed the first cohort of a joint apprenticeship, 10 apprentices, announced September 14, 2026. It is a 16-month program. Training is at NY Creates’ Albany NanoTech Complex, with coursework from Hudson Valley Community College, and apprentices work with Micron mentors. Graduates can look at technician roles at Micron fabs, including Clay.

Not confirmed: the release gives no cost, application process or hiring number, and the program trains in Albany, not Syracuse. We found no apprenticeship cohort based in the Syracuse area. Ask OCC’s workforce office and Micron before planning around it.
