The fab
  • TI says production began at SM1, its first Sherman fab, on December 17, 2025, three and a half years after groundbreaking.
  • Up to 3,000 direct jobs were announced for the whole campus, which could hold four fabs (SM1 to SM4). Only SM1 runs today.
  • TI says it will ramp with customer demand. We found no SM1 headcount.
Training
  • Grayson College got a $350,000 Texas Workforce Commission grant in October 2025 to train 24 students as semiconductor processing technicians. Its Electrical Engineering Technology program offers a Level 1 certificate and an AAS degree.
  • Sherman ISD runs an electronic engineering technology program with Grayson.
  • Grayson is one of five colleges in a North Texas semiconductor technician group led by UT Dallas.
Not confirmed: a TI-specific technician hiring pipeline. One local blog says TI’s careers site was posting Sherman SM1 technician and manager roles in October 2026. Check TI’s site and Grayson’s Center for Workplace Learning.
