Where the Phoenix fabs stand
TSMC in north Phoenix and Intel in Chandler, with sources and what is still a report rather than an announcement.
TSMC Arizona
- Fab 1. In high-volume production since late 2024 on the N4 process.
- Fab 2 (3nm). Reports in January 2026 say TSMC pulled volume production forward to 2027 from 2028, with equipment move-in around Q3 2026.
- Fab 3. Construction has started. Equipment install is planned before the end of 2026, with 2nm and A16 processes named.
- Also reported. More land bought near the campus, a packaging facility, and an early-stage fourth fab.
Intel Chandler
- The City of Chandler says Intel has completed Fab 52 at its Ocotillo campus and is building another fab there.
- Chandler’s 2026 brochures count about 10,000 Intel employees in the city and expect Fab 52 and the next fab to add about 3,000. Another source says 12,000. Intel gives no official Fab 52 headcount.
The 2026 and 2027 details come from secondary reports citing Nikkei Asia and FocusTaiwan, not a TSMC announcement we could verify. Older articles that say 2028 or after 2030 are out of date.
