The apprenticeship
  • Micron’s registered apprenticeship is earn-and-learn. Apprentices enroll in an approved technical certificate or two-year degree and work as process or equipment technicians.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum listed.
  • The Manassas posting we found closed on October 3, 2026. Check Micron’s careers page for the next one.
  • Reports describe a first graduating class and a fifth cohort welcomed.
  • Posted pay conflicts across sites ($17 to $22 an hour on one, $45,000 to $60,000 a year on another), so read the official posting.
The site
  • Micron is spending more than $2 billion to expand and modernize the fab. It expects qualified 1-alpha DRAM production from Manassas by the end of 2026.
  • The CHIPS Act award is $275 million, finalized in 2025.
  • One report puts headcount at more than 1,300 staff plus about 1,000 contractors.
Jobs figures conflict: Micron’s page cites more than 3,100 direct manufacturing and community jobs. American Factory Tracker records 400 permanent operating jobs. The 2024 state announcement said 340 new jobs for the earlier $2.17 billion plan. We do not choose one. We found no Northern Virginia Community College link.
