What is reported
- A 2026 report says Route 28 through Prince William County remains a peak-time bottleneck. The county board is weighing widening about 2.5 miles, from Liberia Avenue in Manassas to the Fairfax County line, from four lanes to six, at around $400 million with funding unsettled.
- An older VDOT-linked article put southbound peak trips at 18 to 21 minutes, but it is about 12 years old and residents disputed it.
- I-66 express lanes: eastbound drivers who enter stay in them until Route 28. That WTOP guide is four years old, so check current toll rules.
- VRE monthly pass holders can ride certain OmniRide buses from VRE stations free.
