The technician apprenticeship
- GlobalFoundries lists a Technician Apprenticeship in Malta. It is a full-time paid position that takes about 18 months.
- Part-time classes run through Hudson Valley Community College. GF’s page says the classes and on-the-job training come at no cost to the apprentice.
- Requirements listed: a high school diploma or equivalent, and age 18 or older.
- Coverage from 2021 described a $5,000 tuition credit for HVCC classes and a training center in Malta built as part of a $12.5 million HVCC expansion.
Other openings
Job sites show dozens of GlobalFoundries postings in Malta, including maintenance technician apprentices and a 2026 new-graduate process integration engineer role. Those are aggregator counts and may be stale, so check GF’s own careers page.
Not confirmed: current headcount at Fab 8, how many apprentices are taken each year, and whether the 2021 tuition credit still applies. Ask GF or HVCC.
