Dates have slipped before. Here is the latest we could find.
- Late 2025. About 1,000 Samsung Austin Semiconductor employees were reported to move into the Taylor office building over the following two quarters.
- March 2026. Samsung said the timeline was unchanged, with mass production likely in early 2027. Reports said part of Fab 1 had a temporary certificate of occupancy and trial EUV operations were expected.
- July 2026. Korean reporting said Samsung finished preparations to mass-produce Tesla’s AI5 chip on a 2nm process at Taylor, with initial operations by year end and volume from 2027.
- Contract. Samsung’s deal to make Tesla’s AI6 chip at Taylor runs from July 2025 to December 31, 2033, reported at about $16.5 billion.
One report said the mass-production start date had not been finalized internally, and another said a full ramp could slide to early 2027. The AI6 start date is not confirmed.
