What this directory covers
What is in it
Large AI data center campuses in the United States tracked by Epoch AI: the biggest sites run by Google, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, OpenAI and its partners, xAI, CoreWeave, Anthropic and others. Each has an owner, location, power, cost estimate and a dated timeline.
What is not in it
It is not every data center. The US has thousands of smaller colocation, enterprise and government facilities, and trackers count them differently. Pew Research counts Virginia (287), Texas (170), Georgia (141), Illinois (123) and Arizona (86) as having the most planned data centers, and that count includes sites that are only land-banked.

It also has no early-stage plans that have not started construction, apart from the seven we added by hand from news reports, so "planned" is still a sample, not a full list. Planned sites are the ones most likely to change or be dropped.
How we label status
- Operating
- Power online now and no larger projected build.
- Operating, expanding
- Online now, with a larger build projected.
- Under construction
- Construction recorded, no power online yet.
- Planned, approved
- A local body has approved zoning or a permit; construction has not started.
- Planned, proposed
- Announced or under local review; not approved.
- Planned, stalled
- Approved but paused, from our own research.
